Where will I be five years from now? I delight in not knowing. That's one of the greatest things about life - its wonderful surprises.
Work like you don't need money
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure. Good judgement comes from experience; and experience, well, that comes from bad judgement.
One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important.
Theologians and scientists each seek understanding. But theologians rely on the mythical tales and subjective human experiences that emanate from the insignificant point in spacetime that encloses human history. Scientists, by contrast, view a range of space from inside atomic nuclei to the farthest quasar, and a range of time from a tiny fraction of a second after the big bang to the present. They see a universe more vast and with far more potential for development than has ever been imagined in any scripture or mystical trance.
Shake off all the fears and servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in the seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of God, because if there be one, he must approve of the homage of reason rather than that of blindfolded fear... Your own reason is the only oracle given you by heaven, and you are answerable not for the rightness, but the uprightness of the decision.
Count not the authorities, but weigh their truth. The trick is to keep an open mind, without it being so open that your brain falls out.
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs -- jolted by every pebble in the road.
To me, boxing is like ballet, except there's no dancing, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other.
I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.
The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds the most discoveries, is not 'Eureka! I found it!' but 'That's funny...'
Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid. Humans beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination.
The mind of a bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.
