Before - The famous Masking Tape colored
wall paint. For the first couple of years we lived here, we just used this room for
storage. We had sold the sectional couch we had in our apartment to a neighbor when we
moved, so we had no living room furniture for a while.
During - Scraping painted-over wallpaper
is *not* fun. That reminds me, a friend asked me once if it was fun renovating an old
house. Um, not really. But it is very satisfying, to take a house with a lot of character
like this one has and give it a facelift after many years of neglect. Here, I finally
decided on wallpaper, border, and couch fabric patterns, to go with this Oriental print
that I've always liked. We repainted this frame to match the chair rail we added to the
living room.
After - Well, I'm not the
world's best photographer, and it shows :-) Oh, well, you get the gist of it. This is the
same corner of the living that's shown in the first photo at the top. There's the Oriental
print we pulled the colors from, and the chair rail Dan added.
