| During - This is the view out our kitchen
window in 1994. We had just planted the ivy around the post, and that's our first
vegetable garden in the center back.

| After - This is the view in
April 1998; geez, I hope we didn't go overboard :-) The garden around the birdbath (right,
center) has been all herbs for a couple of years now; we expanded it in 1996. See how the
ivy has grown up the post? It's covered now, and we have a two-story birdhouse on top. The
purple flower in the left of the photo is an iris from our garden, and the petunias in the
foreground are in a windowbox. We have some nice black wrought iron patio furniture, which
is where that umbrella comes from. I have lots of perennial herbs in the garden around the
birdbath, and I plant annuals like dill and basil every spring.
