Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Monday, March 17th, 2008

A St. Patrick’s Day wish for you:

May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two,
May the sun always shine on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
All the luck o’ the Irish I’m happy to send you,
With a wish that good fortune & joy may attend you!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Have a great day!

About Christmas trees…

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

This is a reminder for next year: Don’t get an Eastern white pine tree. The wood is too soft - it almost fell over last night. Luckily we were right there, but as we were trying to reposition it, the screws from the tree holder were digging into the soft wood. So we’ll look for a hardwood next year.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Despite the names Lewandowski (my husband’s name) and Hoffman (my dad’s name), I’m Irish - really! My family has lots of Irish ancestors on both sides, so I love St. Patrick’s Day. I just came back from a trip to California to see family, and recovered the Family Tree Maker file I had lost (long story), so I’ll be getting back to genealogy research soon … as soon as my Media Law & Ethics class at ODU is over. Need to get that research paper done first.

In the meantime, enjoy the holiday!

Happy Banned Books Week

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

I just heard on our local NPR radio station that this is Banned Books Week. So read a banned book for the cause. Here are a few to choose from:

As my mom says, if you can read, you can never be bored. You never run out of reading material.

Happy Constitution Day

Saturday, September 17th, 2005

Last year, Congress mandated that all schools receiving federal money must teach something about the Constitution to students on the anniversary of Constitution Day (the date the Constitution was signed - September 17, 1787), which is today. According to our local paper, most local schools taught something yesterday.

I think this is actually a good idea, so here are some other related links:
