I win!

\"Covered in Honey\"This is so cool - I’ve never won anything from a food blogging event before, but last week, I did :-)

I posted a recipe for the Iron Chef: Honey event hosted by Joelen of Joelen’s Culinary Adventures. There were only two entries, and for mine, I won a cookbook called “Covered in Honey.”

It has some wonderful-sounding recipes in it. Here are a few I’d like to try:

  • Savory Scones with Rosemary and Chevre
  • Crispy Chipotle Cracker Bread
  • Island Chicken Salad with Miso, Lime and Lime-Honey Dressing
  • New Mexican Layered Enchiladas with Red Chile and Mesquite Honey Sauce

Thanks, so much, Joelen! This is a great incentive to keep submitting recipes for your events. In fact, I have one I’m going to submit for the upcoming Thai event. We LOVE Thai food :-) In fact, I’m growing some of my own Thai ingredients - a lime tree, lemongrass and Thai basil.

Congratulations! Does your lemongrass grow year round? I thought about starting some here, but it’s a tender perennial and won’t last outdoors in the winter time.

Hi, Andrea. I don’t know yet :-) This is the first year we’ve planted it. We have one plant in the herb garden and another in a pot. We’re going to leave one in the ground over the winter and bring the potted one inside, and compare how they do. I’ll have a report next spring ;-)
